Mulching

Mulching

Greenery need mulching?

/1 Zero waste. We chip branches and offcuts on-site, so your tree job leaves with us, not in a pile out the front.
/2 Free mulch. Keep the chip and spread it straight onto your gardens to lock in moisture and feed your soil.
/3 Healthier gardens. A good mulch layer suppresses weeds, holds water through dry spells and protects roots from the heat.
/4 Less mess, less cost. On-site mulching saves on green-waste removal and tip fees, and it is better for the environment.

Why Mulch

In our sandy Shoalhaven soils, mulch is one of the best things you can do for your garden. It holds moisture through hot, dry summers, keeps weeds down, steadies soil temperature and slowly feeds the ground as it breaks down. A fresh layer also makes any garden look instantly cared-for.

F.A.Q

Common Questions?

What is on-site mulching?
It's where we feed the branches and offcuts from your tree job straight through a wood chipper on-site, turning them into mulch then and there. It saves green-waste removal and tip fees, and you get useful mulch out of the deal.
Can I keep the mulch from my job?
Yes — and it's free. We can spread it onto your garden beds, leave it in a neat pile for you, or cart it away if you'd rather not keep it. Just tell us what suits.
Is fresh wood-chip mulch safe to put on my gardens?
Fresh arborist mulch is excellent as a top layer on beds, paths and around established trees and shrubs. Keep it off plant stems and trunks, and for veggie patches it's best to let it age a little first. We're happy to advise.
How thick should I spread mulch?
Around 75 to 100mm is the sweet spot — enough to lock in moisture and smother weeds without smothering your plants. Always leave a gap around trunks and stems so they don't stay wet and rot.
Why is mulch so good for Shoalhaven gardens?
Our sandy coastal soils dry out fast and don't hold nutrients well. A good mulch layer holds moisture through hot, dry summers, keeps weeds down, steadies soil temperature and slowly feeds the soil as it breaks down.
What if I want mulch but don't have a tree job on?
No problem — we sell garden mulch by the load too. Check out our Mulch Sales for locally-produced mulch delivered around the Shoalhaven.
